Community Art Menu Music Calendar Location Contact A Living Room Community More than a building, a coffehouse, or a venue, more than an art gallery or a charity organization...the heart of the Foundry is the Community. In a world of individualism, the Foundry is about breaking down barriers and bringing people together. Everyone is welcome, young and old, left and right, rich and poor, modern and postmodern. Come drink, think, and discuss!
We have had a  number of speakers on a variety of topics at the Foundry. The purpose is neither to condone nor condemn what the speakers say, but is instead to open minds, hear other perspectives, and get everyone thinking about important issues in the world around them. Past speakers have included:
  1. A homeless man about his life on the street
  2. An astronomy professor on UFO activity
  3. A long-time pastor on what he doesn’t like about the Church
  4. Gay & Lesbian Organization leaders on their lives
  5. A Planned Parenthood representative on their organization
  6. A Korean Student on differences between life in Korea and the U.S.
  7. A pastor on the lack of evidence for The Davinci Code
  8. Shane Claiborne, an Extremist for Love, about his experiences in Calcutta, Baghdad, and the slums of Philadelphia
  9. An Orthodox Jewish Rabbi about his faith
  10.

The Foundry emerged from a group of several people who developed some strong convictions about the world around them. Though the world we live in promotes isolation and individualism, we have come to realize the importance of having people in life who really know and care about you. The goal of the Foundry is to build such a community.
At the Foundry we have art shows, concerts, and poetry readings where people
can   express   themselves   artistically.  We

also have book discussions, film discussions and speakers which give cause to consider the world around us; and caring for the world around us is a crucial part of what our community wants to do.
At the Foundry we are interested in issues of social justice. In whatever way possible, we would like to help the poor and downtrodden in this city. The Foundry hopes to encourage a Local Revolution in Omaha that puts into practice the radical idea of caring for others as much as yourself.
Why a coffee house atmosphere? Welcome
